1. About PopTide and Lawful Use

PopTide is designed to provide a high-quality media client for users who have lawful rights, licenses, ownership, or other authorization to access and use the media available through their Jellyfin server.

PopTide does not support, encourage, promote, or facilitate copyright infringement, piracy, unauthorized distribution, or unauthorized access to copyrighted content.

The App does not provide, host, upload, distribute, sell, or supply pirated movies, television shows, music, or other copyrighted content.

PopTide is intended for lawful uses such as accessing media that a user:

• Legally owns or has purchased, including physical media such as Blu-ray, 4K UHD Blu-ray, DVD, or other formats, where permitted by applicable law;
• Has legally purchased or licensed in digital form;
• Has legitimately obtained through a subscription, license, rental, or other authorized service, where the applicable terms permit the relevant use;
• Has personally created or recorded, where the user has the necessary rights;
• Is legally authorized to access through a family, organization, or other authorized media server;
• Is in the public domain or otherwise freely licensed for the intended use; or
• Is otherwise lawfully authorized to access, store, stream, download, or play through their Jellyfin server.

PopTide does not determine or verify whether a user owns, licenses, or is otherwise authorized to access particular media.

Users are solely responsible for ensuring that the content they store, access, stream, download, or otherwise use through their Jellyfin server complies with applicable copyright laws, licensing terms, and other applicable laws.

PopTide does not control the content stored on or served by a user's Jellyfin server and does not endorse or authorize access to content for which the user does not have the necessary rights or authorization.

2. Information We Handle

PopTide is designed to minimize the collection of personal information.

PopTide does not operate a central media-server account system and does not require users to create a separate PopTide account.

Depending on how you use the App, information processed by the App may include:

• The address or URL of your Jellyfin server;
• Your Jellyfin username or account identifier;
• Authentication credentials or authentication tokens provided by the Jellyfin server;
• Information about your Jellyfin account and permissions;
• Information about available media libraries;
• Movie, television, episode, music, artwork, subtitle, and other media metadata provided by the Jellyfin server;
• Playback and watch-progress information;
• Information required to provide features such as Continue Watching and Next Up;
• Application settings and preferences; and
• Local playback-related state.

This information is processed primarily to provide the functionality of the App.

3. Jellyfin Connection Information

When you connect PopTide to a Jellyfin server, the App communicates with that server to authenticate your account and retrieve the information required to operate the client.

This may include:

• Jellyfin server URL;
• Jellyfin user identifier;
• Authentication and session information;
• Library information;
• Media metadata;
• Playback information;
• Audio and subtitle information; and
• Watch-progress information.

PopTide does not intentionally transmit your Jellyfin authentication token to servers operated by PopTide.

Authentication information is used to authenticate requests between the App and the Jellyfin server you selected.

4. Authentication Information

Authentication tokens required to maintain your Jellyfin session may be stored locally on your Android device using secure storage mechanisms provided by the Android platform.

These tokens allow PopTide to communicate with your Jellyfin server on your behalf.

PopTide does not sell, rent, or use Jellyfin authentication tokens for advertising or unrelated purposes.

5. Media and Playback Information

PopTide communicates with your selected Jellyfin server to retrieve information necessary to display and play your media.

This may include:

• Media library information;
• Movie and television metadata;
• Artwork and images;
• Audio tracks;
• Subtitle information;
• Playback information;
• Watch progress;
• Continue Watching information;
• Next Up information; and
• Streaming requests.

This information is exchanged between PopTide and the Jellyfin server according to the server's configuration.

PopTide does not operate or control your Jellyfin server.

6. Local Data Storage

The App may store certain information locally on your Android device to provide functionality and improve performance.

This may include:

• Authentication/session information;
• Jellyfin server connection information;
• Application settings and preferences;
• Cached metadata or media-related information; and
• Local playback-related state.

Locally stored information remains on your device unless removed by the App, Android system controls, clearing application data, or uninstalling the App.

7. Advertising and Tracking

PopTide does not display advertisements and does not use advertising SDKs, advertising networks, or behavioral advertising services.

PopTide does not sell your personal information to advertisers.

The App does not intentionally track your activity across unrelated applications or websites for advertising purposes.

PopTide does not create or maintain advertising profiles based on your use of the App.

PopTide does not use your Jellyfin credentials, authentication tokens, media libraries, or playback information for advertising purposes.

8. How We Use Information

Information processed by PopTide may be used to:

• Authenticate you with your selected Jellyfin server;
• Connect to your Jellyfin server;
• Display your media libraries;
• Display media metadata and artwork;
• Play media;
• Retrieve audio and subtitle information;
• Maintain playback functionality;
• Display Continue Watching and Next Up;
• Remember application preferences; and
• Maintain your Jellyfin session.

We do not intentionally use your Jellyfin media information for unrelated purposes.

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not intentionally share your Jellyfin credentials, authentication tokens, media library information, or playback information with advertisers.

Information is transmitted to the Jellyfin server you choose to connect to because this communication is necessary for the App to function.

PopTide does not operate a central server that receives or stores your Jellyfin media library or playback history.

We do not intentionally disclose personal information to unrelated third parties unless required by law or otherwise described in this Privacy Policy.

10. Jellyfin Servers and Third Parties

PopTide may connect to Jellyfin servers operated by you or by third parties.

Information transmitted to a Jellyfin server is governed by the configuration, privacy practices, and policies of the operator of that server.

If you connect to a Jellyfin server operated by someone else, that server operator may be able to access information associated with your Jellyfin account according to their server configuration and permissions.

We recommend connecting only to Jellyfin servers that you trust.

11. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the App.

Authentication information stored locally is protected using secure storage mechanisms provided by the Android platform where supported.

We recommend using Jellyfin servers configured with HTTPS/TLS, particularly when connecting over networks where encryption is necessary.

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Data Retention

PopTide does not maintain a central copy of your Jellyfin media library or playback history on PopTide-operated servers.

Information stored locally by the App generally remains on your device until it is removed through the App, Android system controls, clearing application data, or uninstalling the App.

Information stored on a Jellyfin server is controlled by that server's operator and is subject to that operator's retention practices.

13. Data Deletion

You can remove locally stored App data by logging out where supported, clearing the App's storage through Android, or uninstalling the App.

If you want information stored on a Jellyfin server to be deleted, you may need to contact the administrator or operator of that Jellyfin server.

Because PopTide does not operate the Jellyfin server you connect to, PopTide cannot delete information stored on a third-party Jellyfin server on your behalf.

14. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

PopTide does not require or intentionally collect the following information for its core functionality:

• Contacts;
• Phone calls or SMS messages;
• Precise location;
• Camera recordings;
• Microphone recordings;
• Personal photographs;
• Personal files unrelated to the App's functionality; or
• Advertising profiles.

15. Children's Privacy

PopTide is not specifically directed toward children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for the purpose of maintaining a PopTide account or advertising profile.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information directly to us, please contact us using the contact information below so that we can review the request.

16. International Data Transfers

Jellyfin servers may be located in different countries. Information exchanged between the App and a Jellyfin server may therefore cross national borders depending on the server's location and network configuration.

17. Third-Party Services

PopTide may connect to third-party Jellyfin servers as necessary to provide its core functionality.

Jellyfin servers have their own terms, configurations, and privacy practices. PopTide is not responsible for the privacy practices of Jellyfin servers that users choose to connect to.

18. Copyright Complaints and Abuse

PopTide respects intellectual property rights.

If you believe that PopTide itself is being used in a manner that infringes your rights, or if you have a legal or copyright-related concern regarding the App, you may contact us using the contact information below.

Please note that PopTide does not host or control media stored on users' Jellyfin servers. Complaints concerning content hosted on a particular Jellyfin server should generally be directed to the operator of that server or the appropriate service provider.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App, our data practices, legal requirements, or third-party services.

When changes are made, we will update the Last Updated date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy.

We encourage users to periodically review this Privacy Policy.
